Clanton's Farm Retreat was born from our shared faith, love for family, and desire to create a place where people can slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with what matters most.
We are Ocie and Dr. Diane G. Clanton, a husband-and-wife team who have shared more than 35 years of marriage, raised three children, and are now blessed with four grandchildren. Through every season of life, our faith in Christ has remained the foundation of our family, our service, and our vision.
Ocie is a 100% disabled United States Navy veteran who continues to serve in the Department of Defense community. His personal experiences with military service, stress, and the need for meaningful rest helped shape the vision for a peaceful retreat where veterans, families, couples, ministry leaders, and others can find renewal.
Dr. Diane G. Clanton is a Christian chaplain serving in the Washington, D.C. area. Her calling to encourage, counsel, and care for others brings a spirit of compassion, prayer, and hospitality to everything we do.
Together, we are transforming our family farm into a welcoming retreat rooted in faith, nature, rest, and genuine human connection. Clanton's Farm Retreat is more than a place to stay. It is a place to step away from the noise, experience the beauty of God's creation, and leave feeling refreshed, valued, and loved.

Clanton's Farm Retreat (CFR) is a Black-owned farm in Halifax County, North Carolina, growing into a welcoming agritourism destination — blending conservation, regenerative agriculture, education, wellness, and community while preserving the rural beauty of the land. The vision is to give individuals, couples, families, veterans, ministry groups, and small organizations a place to step away from the pressure of everyday life and reconnect with nature, faith, community, and themselves.
We're building this in phases, honestly and out loud. What you see today — our first cabin and a working farm — is the first step toward cabins, glamping, trails, and gathering spaces still to come.
CFR is centered on rest and connection rather than commercial entertainment. As the retreat grows, it will offer quiet cabins, glamping, trails, outdoor gathering spaces, firepits, worship and reflection areas, and room for conversation, rest, recreation, and small events.
